ABC 7 and your community pharmacies look forward to hosting the Second Annual Family Health & Caregiver Expo at the Washington D.C. Convention Center, July 29th and 30th. This year's Expo, while still providing great information and resources for the family caregiver, will be expanded to include many features geared toward improving one's health and wellbeing.

A special feature of the 2006 ABC 7 Family Health & Caregiver Expo will be the National Institutes of Health Pavilion.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research.

Helping to lead the way toward important medical discoveries that improve people's health and save lives, NIH scientists investigate ways to prevent disease as well as the causes, treatments and even cures for common and rare diseases.

    Dr. Rovenia Brock "Dr. Ro"
       

    Dr. Rovenia Brock is America's most renowned African American Nutritionist and author of the national best-seller, "Dr. Ro's Ten Secrets To Livin' Healthy." Each day Dr. Ro serves up real life health advice for real people with real problems, in a style all her own. She knows her foodstuff!

    Dr. Ro will be on hand during the Expo to sign copies of "Dr. Ro's Ten Secrets to Livin' Healthy" and to speak on the presenting stage.

           
    Meet Redskins' Great Rick "Doc" Walker
     

    Rick "Doc" Walker, a veteran of nine NFL seasons, distinguished himself on the football field with his blocking and timely pass catching. "Doc" was a starting tight end for Coach Joe Gibbs' 1982 World Champion Washington Redskins. He developed the concept of the Skins' "Fun Bunch" and was an original member of the famed offensive linemen known as the "HOGS."

    As a broadcaster, Rick currently delivers color commentary for the NFL on CBS-Westwood One Radio. He also serves as color analyst for the ACC College Football Game of the Week aired on Jefferson Pilot Sports. He also co-hosts the John Thompson Show on Sports Talk 980 WTEM (Washington, D.C.) weekdays from 3 to 5 PM and is the host of Doc Walker's Proview on NEWSCHANNEL 8.

    Mary's Center Mama and Baby Bus
    Mary's Center Mama and Baby Bus (MBB) is a mobile unit dedicated to linking its patients to a permanent medical home. MBB staff currently provide pregnancy tests and counseling, HIV/AIDS tests and counseling, blood pressure screenings, referrals to area health service providers, dental exams, cleanings and referrals (with appointments) and entitlement enrollment assistance for DC Healthy Families, Community Healthy Start, WIC and TANF.
